Hi all, as some of you already know, i have ordered (and now recieved) a Dell Inspiron E1505. Everything is great with it, exept...

THE DVD DRIVE IS MESSED UP!!!!...

i was making recovery discs with the sonic DVD/CD burning program, and so when it started to burn the DVD, it was estimated at 120 minutes!!! and was writing at .5 to about .8x write speed. this is very slow as im told, as this DVD Drive sould be able to finish the disk within 15 minutes (burning the back up in sequences of 2000MB)

so, i installed nero v6.0 and tried again, this time, it said it would be done in 12 minutes, however, after the 45 minutes, it was only around 50% done. i had set it at 4x write speed too this time.

with this, i do not know what is wrong. do you think it is the drive? i have a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TSL632D with v.5.1.2535.0 drivers. (supposingly its a samsung;when i did a google search). or is it software; the driver is not letting the drive write faster then .5 to about .8x write speed. should i return the unit? since i am still within the 21 day period...

as of the time of this writing, i am searching for new drivers (via the microsoft Hardware Update Wizard)
    cheers, and thanks

and it sorta freezes when it does search...it doesnt let you close the application, so then you have to go ctrl +alt +delete to close it. however, i only let the wizard run for about 7 minutes. should i just let i run till it says there are (no) new drivers for it?

    1. check your BIOS and swap the mode of the drive

    2. make sure you aren't using crappy media; ignore the name and check to make sure they are "made in japan" or buy Taiyo's
