 I just bought this brand new (I think) Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition from the dell online outlet center. I really liked the features but now it's just an expensive paper weight.

Problems? It will not boot, the hard drive is no longer detected and when I run the diagnostics tool it says the video card has memory issues and the hard drive is not even detected.

What is the best way to get a new laptop as soon as possible? Can I keep my hard drive? It has pertinent info on their and I don't want it in anyone elses hands. Anyway I can format it or scramble?

If you guys have delt with Dell support about an issue similar to this how easy has it been to deal with them? How fast are they? Will they give me a hard time? What do I need ready? Will they reimburse for shipping?

    Thanks, ready and waiting

The fastest way is to contact Dell directly (try calling them instead of e-mailing; they usually respond faster). There are also some Dell representatives on this forum whom you can contact.

As for your HDD, you could check whether it works with another computer. Connect it in a desktop computer's drive bay, or put it in any SATA-to-USB external HDD enclosure.

I always keep my hard Drive if I have to send the laptop in for repair. - Dell should not give you any problems doing this.
