Hello guys.
Been trying to love my 1530 the best I could... but I feel like breaking it in half now.
Sent it in to the depot because the stupid little black cable fastener broke off when I was trying to replace my hinge cover. It came back in the box not even in the slot and it was upside down. Took it out of the plastic and it was scratched up.. the bezel and palmrest was. Now i'm very picky. I thoroughly inspected my notebook when I first got it and there was no scratches on those spots.
I called Dell tech up the next day and asked for a new palmrest and a new bezel. The technician came over and replaced those two parts. He also dropped his screwdriver on my nice looking LG LCD with no backlight bleeding or grain. So he ordered a new one for me.
Came over again the next day and replaced the LCD.. but this time with a grainy and backlight bleeding one. So I was pretty mad. I called Dell again and asked them for another LCD. He also didnt align the camera when he replaced the new bezel so it was kind of off to the right side.. wasn't perfectly aligned in the middle like it was originally. I asked him if he could do a better job aligning it so it looks good and he said "that's the best I can do".
The guy came over again and gave me another refurbished LCD that had backlight bleeding and was grainy. I pretty much gave up on that. Oh yeah.. he also used the wrong screw when putting my notebook back together and ended up screwing through the plastic under the palm rest and leaving a bump on it. Good thing because the touchpad had a little dent on it.
He came back with a new palm rest.. finger print reader didn't work.
Came back with another one the next day... found out I had to reinstall UPEK Protector software on my own because it didnt work again... lol.. he didn't know that. He said he replaced thousands of palmrests and software never needed to be reinstalled. Shouldnt have taken his word.
Worked pretty good for a couple of weeks after that. Then the left speaker started to get really staticy.. and I was really mad by then.. I asked for a replacement speaker and asked if they can reimburse me for all of my time wasted and crappy technicians and customer care said nope. Nothing they can do. Even after I told them that they were going to lose a customer.
Needless to say.. their speakers are dirt cheap.. Was replaced a couple days later. I loved how the new technician used his screwdriver to remove the hinge cover.. which can easily be done with your hand. So yeah, he scratched up both hinge clips and the hinge cover.
Anyways two weeks later(now) the left speaker is completely dead and isnt working... again.. so...![]()
On Phone with Dell now.. same story.. transferred back and forth and no one can do anything
Had the notebook for a little over 2 months and feels like i've spent more time watching and waiting for it to get fixed then actually using it.
1 Inspiron technician, 2 XPS technicians, 2 customer care reps, and 2 xps technican supervisors later.. they are probably sending me another tech.
Last Dell for me? Probably =(
-
i probably would have sent it back and got a refund by the time the second thing happened to you
-
Like I always say, it is always best to do the replacements and part switching yourself because of the fact:
No one cares about your laptop more than yourself.
What happened to you is exactly why I NEVER have any technicians touch my laptop and I alone am the one that does the part changes, upgrades, etc. If its really bad, I request a replacement brand new from factory. Simple as that.
I am very sorry that you have experienced something like this. By the looks of your story, it sounds like you know a thing or two about pulling out the hinge cover yourself. You should do the upgrade next time. -
Yeah I know what the inside of a XPS M1530 looks like now.. very well.
I'm still a notebook n00b.. I could never replace the LCD or change the palm rest.. I can replace the keyboard or hinge cover lol
Still on hold.. been over 2 hours -
Yay.. Edward is gonna send me another tech.
-
Since the tech has scratched the control panel and other stuff... can't you just get a replacement?
If not, you seriously need to make the point to the technician about prior experiences you've had and always keep a close eye on what the technician is doing. -
Oh yeah I have like 10 hinge covers lol i just replace them whenever a tech is finished, because they scratch them up all the time. Yeah i'll keep an eye on the tech this time..
I do love my 1530 though =( when its working. -
lol. Yeah, I love mine too. Despite all the new Montevina refreshes unleashed by all the other companies so far... the Dell M1530 tops them all. Sure the Vaio's got the new style, but its an inch thick all round, so more on the bulky side.
Hopefully Tech doesn't screw up this time! -
Eh.. the Right speaker just went out today while watching a movie.. it's weird though.. if I press down on the hinge cover, where the right speaker is located, I can hear static music.
-
Hey, OMG...that's just awful....something isnt right with how you have been treated, and what your notebook has gone thru.
I hope that things get *fixed* up for you and your 1530....I would be really torked if something like this happened to me with my 1530...
*hell, hath no furry, like a woman...scorned* LOL
Ar..I hope it works out for you....Though, I feel they shouldve just replaced with a new one.. -
Thanks.
Yeah =( i dunno if its my motherboard because this is the 2nd speaker to go out like this.. they arent fully dead.. it's just not working like they are suppose to. Anyway, will have my 3rd speaker next week and if those go out.. I don't know what i'm going to do.
