Hey guys, I got a my dell in the mail, it was a *****, read my story below. On top of that my screen turned out grainy![]()
Wish I knew how to tell its a Samsung, I can tell that under Device Manager the drivers for the monitor it just says PnP Generic Device or something like that.
On the lower left corner of the case on the keyboard I can also press down and it makes a pop noise everytime. Not that big of a deal. Otherwise so far I am impressed with the monitor. Just need to fix the screen or else I will have to return it.
Heres an email I wrote to Dell concerning their customer care
Hello there,
I assume this is going to reach management. Let me explain my plight. I ordered this laptop awhile ago. I was told I would get the laptop before Wednesday. Unfortunately dell goofed up and shipped it to Mankato, where my business is. That was not the correct address. Furthermore they did not give the correct overnight shipping they promised me when I bought the computer. I also found out too that the only way in order to get my computer on time was to DRIVE 2 hours SOUTH and pick it up. It could not be delivered to me on time Thursday before I left for college. Well great. I just spent 4 HOURS of my life, and 20 dollars of gas plus needing to eat out in order to afford my own computer I bought. That is rediculous. On top of that. The three or more times I contacted Dell in order to get this resolved they did not A: Update my Order Status, B: Update the Tracking Status, C: Never called me back on if progress has been made when the said they would, D:Try to tell me that it was my fault this was happening.
I must of spoke to 5 or more service reps. Plus I talked to a technician. Because after I got my laptop and opened it up I got a defective LCD Screen. Talk about a great experience. The technician told me I had an email from dell about reimbursement or componsation or some other thing. But heck if I know he means by that because I have received no email from anyone regarding that.
On top of that I also had to talk to two separate technicians to get my screen fixed and now I am in process of waiting for an email from the management to fix my screen.
I sincerely hope this was just a fluke and not an overall performance of horrible customer service.
Here is an email I wrote to their XPS manager
Hello there,
First off I would like to say that the technician I worked with was good. Helped me out as best as he could. Although he said in order to talk to you I would have to email you through this. I can understand why when you have many people who sometimes ask to speak to a manager. I would like to start off and explain my situation. I bought a new xps1530 laptop. It came with a grainy monitor. To explain what that is I will direct you to a post by your company rep on your company forums... http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppor...ideo&message.id=167983&query.id=62238#M167983
I agree with most of what he has to say. Although I will argue that the Samsung Model LCD screen is SEC3350 is inherently designed bad and always has this problem. You may wonder how I know such a think, the internet. With such a popular company as Dell and such a popular product as this xps1530 it is no wonder you will find a treasure trove of information on the product and its parts. How I came across this particular defect was through notebookreview.com
Please PLEASE take a look at this thread. It will detail what everyone is having problems with including me. I believe the community has valid insight on the problem here.

The Samsung (SEC3350) is a poor quality part which is not legitimate in your high end XPS notebooks. I am looking for the 'Part no. XK309, 15.4" WSXGA+ LGP' the LG part to the monitor. This laptop is valued at over 2,000 dollars and upgraded with the highest end monitor I could get. Please understand that I am trying to get a quality part for my quality machine. A technician was sent out to replace my screen. Unfortunately the technician could not give me the part number to verify due to privacy reasons. If the technician comes out with another samsung part I am afraid I wil have to turn him away.
Thank you and please respond to my email, Dell has been bad at contacting me back.
Sincerely,
-

I'd run those by a spell checker before you send those off.

BTW more than likely the "new" screen you got was pulled from another bad unit. So right off the bat you got a bad LCD and then maybe a used or "refurbed" LCD. They will deny it but years ago I went through 5 monitors with them before I called them to the carpet that I would go "public" and got a brand new one. Later I found it that this was industry practice.

meh i bought one wasn't impressed with the quality of mine either for what i paid. My perception is that the xps m1530 trys to be high end but fails

Wow, those letters are awful. You have no specifics, just a lot of poorly formed thoughts and complaints. I love howe you blame Dell for having to eat out.

Yah, its bad. I didn't put mu into it. It was late and I was mad. Thankfully I found out they are putting an LG screen in and are giving me a 100 dollar coupon.

looks like i was right

Got my new LCD screen in. It's an LG. Too bad they put the wrong model in and now I have the 1280X800 screen and not the big 1600x1050. Looks like they are coming out again. Got a Dell P/N but none of them match up with any other one I'v seen on the froums.
