I would like to share my decent technical and customer support experience with Dell.

I've had my Inspiron 6400 since August 2006 and its been a great system for the most part other than minor problems such as the DVD Drive, the Battery Latch and the AC adapter failing twice that were all taken care of a long time ago.

Lately, my battery has been performing badly, lasting me about a half hour or so and the hinges on my screen were extremely loose making the screen wobbly, and then just last week the hard drive died and the media buttons on the front stopped responding properly.

So I called in with the following issues to note last week on Monday, the Battery performance, hard drive failure and the media buttons not responding. I was treated pretty nicely, and after going through proper dignosis I was issued a dispatch to send in my system to the depot. Also they issued a replacement battery with rubber feet and some screws.

I sent in the system the same day I called in using purolator, and I wasn't happy about the problems then since I thought they might make me pay for some of the things they will replace.

I received the system on Tuesday this week, it came in with the following replaced:

    LCD Cover
    LCD Hinges
    Hard Drive
    Palm Rest
    Clean & Test

I was suprised to even see they replaced the exterior of the system while I have 1 year limited warranty with no complete care or anything else which also ends on August 10th of this year.

Although I was happy with everything there was one problem, they replaced the LCD Cover with a refurbished part that is damaged in the top left corner and is dented so I have to send the system back to them for them to replace that part.

Currently, my system looks BRAND NEW since all the exterior has been replaced, it also feels brand new with the new battery and the hard drive.

I have to say I am HAPPY I bought a Dell and I can't believe I am saying this either lol.
