Schools starts for me on Aug 8. I already ordered the xps 1530 for an awesome price. 1200 shipped with 3 year warrenty to be exact. But with montevina out, Im having doubts. I was expecting the new xps line to be out this week and to cancel my order and buy the refresh. But it doesnt look like it will be out on time for me to order and recieve the computer before school starts. I am eyeing the HP dv5 and very close to order that. This computer has to last me for the next 4 years through optometry school. I will be travel back and forth from the east coast to west coast. As you can see, this laptop will be my life. I am hoping to do a little gaming esp when Starcraft 2 comes out. What to do? Advice?

I was wondering the same thing, but I heard that the Montevina isn't going to be that big of an improvement. Just better battery life for the most part. However, if you go on xoticpc.com, you'll see that the current Penryn processors have pretty much the same battery life... they both say 2-3 hours or 2+ hours when you look at the specs. However, these are for Sager computers.

I am on this boat too, but not only am I waiting for Montevina because I also want the new 9xxx Video Cards to be implemented in Dell laptops. I do think the new Dell refresh will look different just because all other computer brands have made new laptops for the new processor. Dell really just needs to get on with making some changes because I am really getting impatient!

Buy it now or you will regret it later. The Montevina that is out right now is not really the true montevina. The true Montevina comes out mid-August to September that is equipped with more features such as Wimax that the current Montevina release does not have and it does not have the new killer Integrated 4000 series gfx. There is no point to buy now even being an early adopter just to see something upgraded in a month or two and cost the exact same (though will already be expensive).

Be happy with what you have. If you really want to exchange when and if it comes out, you have 21 days, so it won't be too bad.
