I bought a 24” Gateway LCD Monitor – does 1920 x 1200 and connected it by DVI to my E1705. The display was awesome but I had to install an EZtuner driver for it. Well, it work for a day and the display would show on my laptop screen and the LCD monitor simultaneously. But on the second day of use as I was watching a movie the laptop screen went fuzzy like a badly tuned TV and then it blanked out. Then no more display from it ever! Now I fiddle with the display settings and driver to select multiple monitors and when I see options it only says “single display” – Gateway LCD monitor. The laptop screen option does not display. In Device manager 4 monitors show with their drivers – 3 default displays and 1 Gateway LCD monitor. I tried booting up from both my XP hds and have the same results – no laptop display. And on initial bootup – No Bios bootup message screen shows up cause the laptop screen doesn’t seem to work.

So did my laptop screen or video card get fried? Was it the fault of my monitor or no? I still get display through DVI. Does anyone here have a similar bad experience by using a Gateway 24” LCD monitor? When it fried my screen was near horizontal, so it slid under the Gateway monitor, - but that shouldn’t affect it.

It would be good if Dell replaced my 7800go with a 7900GS! I got 4 year EPP warranty with Accident Protection!

Anyone else have experiences with their display getting fried?
