So I ordered my laptop Wednesday of last week, and have received it today! That means it took only 5 days to order, ship, and receive it. This is by far the fastest order I have ever seen from Dell, and no I did not have a special shipping package, it was just basic 3-5 day ground shipping. So there's a +1 for Dell.

It's an XPS 1330 with the 2.4Ghz processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB SSD, nVidia GPU, and the slim/light LED screen. Everything works perfectly. No cosmetic flaws, no system flaws, the thing flies. DEAD quiet, hardly noticeable heat, I would actually say it's more comfortable with it being warm :) Another +1 to Dell.

Not an extreme amount of bloatware, unlike some Sony models I have tried out.

I would write more but it's getting late here and although I'm skipping my first class in the morning to play with my new toy I'm still heading to the campus.

Any questions/comments/concerns I will gladly reply to.

Interesting, I guess there is no shortage of any parts for the m1330. That big Dell delay must be only with the m1530. Always a breath of fresh air to here a story about everything going right though. Congrats buddy.

I ordered an xps1530 yesterday and the estimated ship date is 5/28...does it mean anything if I got a call from a Dell rep. this morning asking to confirm my shipping address? (hopefully it'll arrive sooner than "expected"?)

I don't think so, that's all stuff they just always do at the beginning to make sure everything is in order. Don't expect it to come much earlier than that date, if at all, since some people who ordered back in April have that same estimated date.

    Nope, brand new system.

5/22. So it came approximately, 10 days early to be exact :)

Thanks, and yeah you guys were freaking me out on here, a whole thread dedicated to a "Delay Club"? I was so sure it was going to take ages to get here. Not sure about the delay on the 1530, if it helps any my best friend ordered it about 2 months back and it came rather quickly as well, about a week, week and a half maybe? So perhaps it's just where you live or the system you purchase. Mine came out of Tennessee which isn't too far from me.

    Congrats on your new laptop.

Reformat ASAP even if there isn't much bloatware. You don't want 15 gigs of space to be taken up by dell backup and media direct on an already crammed SSD.

I'm a bit afraid to do that. I already formatted the recovery partition (so sue me, don't need it trust me), and am planning on installing Ubuntu on the unallocated space. I have about 33.3 GB free for Vista which I think is plenty. I hope. If not, I have an external 80GB HD laying around somewhere :) Perhaps if I get courageous enough I will do the reformat.
