I ordered my brand new XPS m1530 on Wednesday. The EDD is March 26th. Here are the specs:
    XPS M1530, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800MHzFSB, 3M L2 Cache)
    full Hi-def screen
    bluetooth + travel mouse
    belkin case
    tuxedo black
    fingerprint reader
    128gb solid state drive

thats mostly it. it started the build stage yesterday, maybe earlier, and right now its still in the build stage currently. is this good? is it ahead of schedule? the phone said it should ship on the 19th. do you think it will come earlier? thanks.

You will never know. It can sit in the build stage if their suppliers cut them short on certain parts.

What ssd did you get? some are painfully slow.

i dont know if you know about the defective Graphics cards... But that is one. It can fail and fry the card and mobo.

You might want to consider canceling it or returning it. :(

I got the 128gb one, and read some reviews about people getting it with their 1530, and they liked it. If it's slow then I am definately complaining and switching back to the 500gb SATA hdd that I was getting in the first place.

Well, I haven't heard much of that, I know it exists, though. I'm not too worried, but if problems do end up happening then I can always return it. :(
You would think they would stop offering that on the Dell website but I guess not. :\

edit: I was just reading and it said that new dell systems that are involved with this issue have an extended warranty and also come with a BIOS update that helps reduce the risk of this happening. I also read that just because it has that graphics card doesnt mean it will be effected. So i'll be crossing my fingers!

I have this in my 1530...Don't worry about it. I have had no problems or issues with it. Nor, do I look for any type of issues or problems with my lappy. Besides, there is the extra 1 year warranty with the GPU :D

If something is going to happen to your lappy it will. You can't stop that. You just deal with it then.

Right now, enjoy the fact your getting a fantastic laptop!!!

Oh, with the ESD..Dell usually overprojects on that to protect against cases of part delays, production problems, etc. Theres a good chance it will ship before the ESD :D

    Cin ;) :)

Yeah. But isnt it easier to just return it and get a laptop that you wont have any GPU problems with? It will be covered for 2years, but when the 3rd year comes, and the replacment could fail, then you have to pay for it. And the trouble of sending it in if it does fail.

Its a problem you can get around, so why not do it? And get a newer/better GPU as well.
