Okay, so it's here.
I re-formatted and re-installed a clean version of Windows Vista. I'm having some driver issues. I installed some drivers from the DVD that came in the box. I'm installing an NVIDIA driver from the Dell Support website. It's the only driver from NVIDIA listed. I just hope it will work. Right now I'm running on no video drivers. Everything looks ugly at the moment. I hope this driver works. Oh, and I absolutely loved the 1680x1050 resolution before I re-installed.
Another thing is my NOD32 is incompatible with Windows Vista. What the heck?
I'm going to keep you posted in this thread. Software-wise, I'm not entirely sure of myself right now but I'll ask specific questions if I'm completely lost.

Congrats

Congrats! Still waiting......
-
Mine is at the dhl hub near my house... I'm dying here...
-
-
Just got mine, and I am planning on keeping the pre-installed Vista as is and install Ubuntu alongside it.
-
Yea the driver you are downloading will work fine, i did the same thing except that i accidently deleted my drivers lol so it reverted to the crappy ones.
-
now my package is "With delivery courier"
The wait is literally killing me. -
Okay I'm back online!
I have the video driver installed from CD. It is so beautiful. Honestly. Webpages look AMAZING. There are no better words to describe this. I absolutely love the 1680x1050 resolution. I love typing; this keyboard is amazing.
Right now, I'm not sure what kind of protection I have. I think I have Windows Defender... I don't have anti-virus protection yet. I have to figure something out here. -
Ya mine is also with the courier

ARRIVING TODAYLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Okay, everything is working a-ok! No problems whatsoever! I can't get over how beautiful the resolution is. I got used to it so fast. Everything is mad small but it's amazing.
Just one downside... the screen is terribly grainy. I'm getting used to it, but the first time I turned it on, I was like, "You're kidding me." But it's really not that big a deal. And by grainy, I mean it looks like its dirty. But everything is just so sharp. And the viewing angles are really good. -
What drivers are you using?
-
I really don't know. I just got drivers from the DVD that came with it. They are probably old but it works! I haven't played any games on it yet since I don't have any games.
-
Here's a link to the drivers I used.. basicly you just unzip the drivers to a folder, then download the new inf file on that site and overwrite the one that is already there, then do a manual driver install by right clicking on the card in device manager, go to properties, driver tab, update driver and manually choose the new ones. Vista will throw a fit and warn you these drivers aren't certified, but they are working beautiful for me. It has also been reported that 163.18 is even better but I don't have a current link for them.

With these drivers installed I have 0 crashes, and no graphics glitches, and everything seems to run smooth. -
I addition, did you test the earphones? Any annoying noise? -
I just find that on white, it looks smudged. I don't know how to explain it.
As you requested, I just tried out the earphones. The sounds I am hearing is horrible. I'm glad I have my notebook connected to my stereo system via USB! -
did they ship you an AUO screen?
-
Auo?
_______ -
thats the type of lcd screen i believe. i have a generic pnp monitor. you could send it back because of the grainyness or just call them, they may even come to ur house to replace it
-
It's okay, I'm gonna keep it. It really doesn't bother me at all now.
-
can you take a picture showing your "grainy" screen? I haven't been able to see any pics of a "grainy" screen.
My won't be coming until 9/10 :-/ -
I'm not sure if you could really take a picture of a "grainy" screen or it would be hard to notice it through a picture.
Anyway my 1520 is coming tomorrow, it was suppose to be coming today, but it skip my state and went to the wrong dhl location.
Anyway I can't wait till my 1520 tomorrow. -
yes, what does a grainy screen look like and how do i find out which company made my display? the invoice thingy said it was LG Philips, but i jsut want to make sure...
-
I wish i would have ordered my sooner... its going to be 9/20 before i see mine
-
