Let me clarify a few things.
I purchased this computer (1520 in signature) on the 26th of June, with an estimated ship date of July 13th. I just got off the phone with my Dell Rep who informed me that my computer has been built(!!11!!1!) and is to be sent from the manufacturer to wherever they actually ship the product.
WOO? This is my first time dealing with dell, and while my rep had the strongest Indian accent, I found her quite pleasing and the service thus far to be impecible. Whats with the nay-saying? Most importantly, for those of you who have purchased computers from Dell in the past, how long does it generally take to leave the manufacturer (assumed to be some oriental sweat shop) to where it leaves for my doorstep?

Dell has a chartered China Airlines Cargo 747 fly to Memphis every business day. Once it's in Memphis, the machines are taken off of pallets and into boxes where they are transfered to the shipping company

Here's my question for you, so you've gotten the info that you're computer has shipped based on speaking directly with a representative... has your online status changed at all? I'm just wondering if they keep the online status updated if your order is bumped up (or down) at all.

It still shows as in production. The Dell Rep assured me that it would change to "Shipped" with a Tracking Number within 24 hours.

What I'm curious, is what did you exactly ask? If you ask for a shipping date, they are just going to tell you the estimated ship date...what did you ask them?

What time of day did you order it? I ordered mine about 9:30PM on the 26th

I use Dell's chat client, but while one guy I got was able to tell me more details (it was in the Testing phase of Production, specifically) the other representative was only able to tell me it was in production, no detailed steps. -

its been in production for 6-7 days!!!! I called Dell...and they told me theres a back order of 15 days....so I will not be getting it earlier....But when I did a live chat with a DELL agent ( I Think he was from India..judging from the Name)..he told me that I will be getting my system within 7 days!!!
I dont know what to believe except to WAIT!!!!

i originaly ordered mine on the 26th... but then reordered it on the 29th to save $350 add blue tooth and a DVD-rw.
Im getting mine next week.
the worst part is i have no, 0%, idea when or what day.
EDIT: I called dell their auto status told me it was in the "boxing stage" -
I finally was told that mine is being built today, and I can expect it to be shipped in 4-5 days. I was also upgraded to Next Day Air, and so I'll have it soon

Well I did what doubleblack did and boy is dell trying to get customers to love them. My shipping was changed to overnight for free as well, along with them emailing me when the status is updated.

i tried to get my shipping upgraded over online chat, but they said they couldn't do it because i placed my order in the business department and they were the home department.
i gave the business department a call and they upgrade to next day shipping for me =)
