I've been waiting for a good Sonoma based Desktop replacement and with the $800 coupon off the Inspiron I'm thinking it's a good time to buy. I'm thinking the 6000D is the best bet for me for these reasons and would like see if you agree or have any better suggestions. I am believing that the 6000D is just a good as the 9300 with the 2GHZ with exception of:
    1. 17" vs 15.4", but I plan to have this docked mostly using a flat panel dispay and occasionally on my lap around the house etc.
    2. Video card, mostly will do office productivity and burn lots of high-8 tapes to DVD. Will not play many video games if any at all.
    3. 7200 RPM drive, for sure I can get it with the 9300, right now Dell tells me I can't get it in the 6000. This may be a deal breaker for me.
Configuring (top end) 6000 comes to $1500 and similiar configuration on th 9300 comes to $2300 with the discount. So all in all for what I need, am I thinking the 6000D is equal to the 9300 for performance, etc. or am I missing some important differences?

Thanks in advance for your advice oh great forum members.

Call them up and let them know you want the 7200rpm drive or you are going somewhere else. They will probably find a way to get you one. It might take longer but it would be worth it.

I like my i6000d. The monitor is big but is still portable. Those 17 inch monitors are too big in my opinion. Just get the wsgxa+ or wugxa monitor.
