    Hey all,

I just received my inspiron 700m a week ago and I noticed that in the My Pictures folder there are some random photos of some people and scenes with random file names: sierra cove, 008_09.

Does this mean they sent me a refurbished laptop? Or do other ppl have this on their laptops too? How would i know if its refurbished?
    thanks.

Actually, it sounds to me like those belong to someone else and that the
    laptop is refurbished.

Sample photos and files are common. They need some better looking models though. LOL! Actually there is a picture of a cute woman on the DV1000. Just delete all the junk or reformat and you won't have to worry. They cannot legally sell you a refurb without your knowledge.

Refurbs however are great alternatives when you are on a budget. I have to say though, you should hope to save at least $200-$300 to offset the cost of upgrading parts or buying a new battery.

I just received my 700m brand new and have the exact same problem. There are random pictures and mp3's in the "my music" and "my pictures" folders. It especially makes me believe that the 700m has been used by someone else because the photos are consistently of a family with daughters; one of the daughters is this little retarded girl or something. Also, there are random pictures of what look like photos of their vacation trips.

What annoys me most is that dell says that these pictures should not exist, but at the same time they say the laptop is brand new. It's not making any sense to me and they refuse to allow me to return the computer for another one. They will only give me a refund, which sucks because they won't uphold the same deal that I purchased it for; the 750 of 1499 coupon.

Any other info on the topic confusedbaboon??
