My Studio 15 just arrived!!

I know this thread is worthless w/o pics.

My Studio 15 just arrived!!! I'm at the office now staring at it.

I will take pics once I get home and update this thread.

I just wanted to waste bandwidth. Am I the first Studio 15 owner on NBR?

It looks very impressive. I certainly is a match for the XPS line, visually at least. You could do a mini-review if you didn't want to do a full review? I think alot of people will be interested in whether this notebook is for them.

It looks a lot like a fusion between the XPS M1530 and one of those HP's.

 

AHHHHH!!! I'M SOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!! It's really lovely. Darn, shoulda placed an order on Studio 15 instead of on XPS M1330.

The backlit keyboard is just awesome! I will take a photo tonight, I fell asleep last night watching Anime on it.

I will do a simple mini review when I get more hours on it.

So far I'm loving it! The keyboard feedback is very good. The LED display is gorgeous, I don't know if I mentioned that already. My only gripe is the trackpad, it has a rather "rough" finish on it for I guess more feel? But it doesn't feel good IMO for my fingers, esp when you get sweaty. Also the left palm area gets rather 'hot', it's bearable if you are in a cool room. But if you are in a warm environment it's not pleasant.

 

I like the contrast between the black keyboard and the gray surrounding it. I never liked the all silver look (keyboard & palm rest area) of the M1530. It's another reason besides the recently announced defective Nvidia 8 series cards that I'm waiting for the 1530's replacement. Actually if I could get a better card than the 3450 on the Studio 15 (like a 3650 or even better, 3850), I might consider it.

edit: I cancelled my order LOL!! I may be getting a dell studio 15 or a macbook. Who knows, we'll see.

Wow, it looks great! I'm not sure if I like it more or less than my 1530, but it looks great nonetheless.

And as someone said, you should take a picture of the back-lit keyboard with the lights off. It might convince me to swap keyboards!

How would you install Windows XP on it and just curious but could the vista drivers for the bluetooth and dell wireless n card on this laptop somehow work with XP?

i think dell and ati both offer the xp drivers for free so you can downgrade. But you better hurry, microsoft is gonna stop production verrry soon

 

Hey, could you tell us what adapter came with your Studio 15?
I was wondering if they send the 90-Watt or the 65-Watt from the Inspirons... Or maybe the Studio line has a new adapter... I know it's kind of a freaky question, but I want to know!

As strange as that question is about the adapter... I find myself also wondering. I hopefully will receive mine shortly

Sorry for no updates last night. There was a family emergency. I just came home this morning and I'm TIRED!! But I did take pics.

BTW, I'm trying to find the factory installed wallpapers, does anyone know what folder it is contained? I'm too lazy to dig, I know I can find it. But I rather not rack my brain looking around.

Is the Studio 15 made of aluminum like the XPS?

 

No Studio is made of plastic.

Though.......... I must say it does look VERY nice. Much nicer than other pics. Wow... the power button, the new remote that actually has additional buttons to launch media direct... wow... That really is one heck of a sweet notebook. Despite the weaker gfx card........ it really is a HUGE improvement.

Kinda makes me shiver as to what the next XPS M1530 successor is. If they can come up with something this great for Inspiron Studio... XPS.... wow... I can't imagine how good it will be.

damnit dell. make it thinner. You can fit 2 of each thing with that thickness! i.e. another set of headphone jacks, another USB ontop of the existing ones, ect...
