    Hello all,

This is my first post after reading the forum since last week when I discovered it in search of information about the Dell Studio 15. I found people's discussions very useful.

I live in the UK and I ordered my Studio 15 on the 2nd July and was given an estimated delivery date of the 16th. My order was delivered on the 15th :)

Everything is great about the laptop except the speakers. Audio sounds rattly and there is often a short crackling sound when certain sounds are played. Basically, I'd like to know if this is a fault.

    What do you guys think?
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
What can I do about it?

    Thanks in advance.

My brand new Studio 15 has the same problem. The built-in speakers
are really nasty. I'm not expecting audiophile sound, but they really are tinny and shrill sounding. It seems like all the sound is concentrated in the upper midrange and treble regions, which gives the audio a harsh quality.

There's nothing you can do to improve the sound, other than using
    outboard notebook speakers or headphones.

Got my UK Studio 15 a couple of days ago. The poor speakers (and they are that for sure) are the least of my worries. ItÂ’s a poorly constructed piece of rubbish if you ask me. Make worse in my case as I ordered a backlit keyboard and the thing appears to have been prized apart here in the UK to fit one. Its being sent back ASAP. Inspiron 1525 I fear may be the last great budget to mid range Dell. Studio 15 is pure evidence of Dells price cuts.

Speakers are very poor, even by laptop standards. No other problems like the above poster though. I mean my only other gripes are the media controls which are impossible to see in anything but bright light, and Dell cutting costs in the UK by not including the media remote or backlit keyboard.

Mine work, just to a substandard. Do you think if I complain I'll get someone to come out? What would they do, replace them there and then?
