    As the title says.
However I got this IDE to USB converter and hooked it up to my DVD ROM in my Desktop, but for some reason the lap can't recognize it!
    Any Ideas ?

when did you buy it? how did it get ruined? The dvd drive is really easy to replace, and I believe xps systems come with one year parts/labor warranty.

so just call them up, tell them you have a faulty drive, they'll send you a new one and you send them your old one.

I got it from a friend who got it when he was in USA, now he's here with me in Egypt.
Forget about the warranty now, it's pretty old. about 2 and a half years.
I just need to read the CD today.

Network share the DVD drive in your desktop, and map to it on your XPS.

Nope. You said you just needed to read from the CD, not boot from it.
