So I have Vista installed along side Ubuntu and now Vista won't hibernate anymore.

if I hit Fn+F1, the screen fades to black and then just comes back on; no errors or anything. Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on? I use Hibernate ALL the time, and it's really enough to make me go back to a single boot if it's a huge issue.

    Thanks all!

For Xp, you have to enable it under power Options.

I can't seem to find anything on this issue.

Also, when I look at my event log, it lists Quickset as the issue. Reinstalling or uninstalling Quickset does nothing. Still unable to hibernate.

Ok, this part is fixed. Ubuntu flagged itself as the boot partition, which Vista must apparently be to hibernate properly. Now, if only I could get it to load Grub from the Vista bootloader...

    Hi,

it might be due to the Vista bug. If you clear the hibernation file during the disc cleanup, then hibernate option is gone.
Fortunately 'powercfg /hibernate on' works, see:
