I have posted about this problem before, but can any of you tell me how many of you have this problem?

Problem: Laptop screen image does not reappear after opening lid for about 2-4 seconds. Power option is set to do nothing, LCD and Video card have been replaced. Sound from movies stutter during playback when opening/closing laptop lid.

Wasn't Dell going to replace your video card or screen?

Well, my 8100 does something like that. It takes a while for screen to show up, a few seconds, not instant. And usually when you close and open lids, the comp slows down a bit, no? I thought this was normal as the stupid thing needs time to restore everything from its hibernation/power saving whatever you call it mode.

I just tried mine (using cyberlink) and it does the same thing. Eventhough your HDD aren't turning off when you shut the lid, your LCD is. Then when you open the lid, it has to turn on and refresh (best word I could think of to describe it). This is causing the movie to stutter because the video is not going forward. Its similar to when you are coming out of screensaver. The screen will flicker a couple times, and that's what is happening in this case...

I don't think there is any way to fix the LCD from turning off. It is pretty standard on notebooks. Once you move the LCD past a certain point, its going to turn off. I would either pause your movie before you open the lid or not shut the lid completely. Slowly close your lid and find the point where it will stay on versus turning off...you'll see the screen go black if you go past a certain point.
