I know some of you out there don't really like reading 2-3 page reviews/reports and just want the nitty gritty. (Though personally i like the long in depth reviews provided). But for those of you with Short attention spans here it goes.

2 gigs DDRR 667 Mhz RAM

Buying- The inventory In Dell Outlet is constantly refreshed so finding precisely what you want should not take long. However be sure to fully read each computers description fully as Some are ""Scratch and dent"" Or ""Off lease"" Your best off sticking to factory refurbished. The process is as simple as selecting the system you want adding to cart and Purchasing with a variety of Payment options (I chose to use Paypal). The process is quite simple and fast And if you need to ask any questions Use the live chat on the Dell Main Webpage as it is MUCH faster then telephone support. (Unless it's an inventory question then you have to call).
Shipping- Dell claims most systems Ship Next/Same day from the Outlet. In my case The order was Placed on 4/23 And Shipped Out 4/25 And Arrived at my door 4/28 (Mind you 26-27 was a weekend) I used DHL 2nd day as a Shipping service and All went well. My only gripe was the ABSOULUTE requirement of a signature with Zero exceptions made. This made it very difficult to have someone home at the time.
Unboxing- The laptop really..just looked brand BRAND new No scratches no sign of wear...nothing If it was not for the green refurbished sticker on the bottom you would never ever be able to tell this is a refurbised laptop. It was delivered in a plain brown DELL box marked certified refurbished on the side. Inside the Box was a smaller white Box containing all manuals/cords. Below that enclosed in two white styraphome pieces was the actual laptop very well protected.
First Boot up- Everything on the laptop Booted up nicely without issue Very quick No errors no problems what so ever. Screen is immaculate No grainyness No dead pixels.
Gaming- Thus far i have Only tried World of warcraft which runs at Max settings without any delay (1280X800 screen resolution) The in game FPS (which while not extremely accurate) Reports at it's Lowest around 65 FPS at it;s highest about 150) In any case it runs extremely smooth without a single hitch. I intend to run Half life 2,Halo,Oblivion,Battlefield 2142 In the next week and will update my experiences as such. I should note that even after a 5 hour World of warcraft session the laptop was extremely cool and comfortable enough to put on a persons lap.
Build quality- The casing to this model really is like a TANK it's very thick durable plastic with zero flex almost anywhere on the unit. The only downside is Being such thick plastic and being so durable it is...Quite heavy and large for a 15 inch model (About 6.5 pounds) And fairly thick at that.
Overall If i were to Put my experience to a report card for the REAL ADD people![]()
Performance - B+ (3DMARK 2006 3806 Stock settings)
Build quality A- (Only downside is the Latch with Some give to it And it's plastic build Not Aluminum Or magnesium alloy)
Sound quality - C-(Would reccomend getting an Express slot sound card the stock sound card is really pretty bad but acceptable for general use)
Customer Service - N/A Have not had to contact for this machine
Price - A+ Not many other places will you find machines spec'd this well with these warranties at these prices then Dell outlet.
Condition of Machine- A++ Could not believe it was refurbished! Still amazed.
In short I would highly reccomend those on a budget to consider Dell outlet. You simply can't beat the Price/Performance ratios.
P.S If i can awnser anything about Dell refurbished laptops I have not listed here please feel free to ask.

Funny, DHL left my Vostro 1500 on my doorstep when I wasn't home...didn't require a signature or anything. But nice, I ordered mine on a Friday from the outlet and had it by Tuesday with 2nd day shipping.
Glad you like your new lappy! -
Very nice man. I got a 1720 with a core2duo 1.66, 2gb ram and the same vid card with camera, sd card reader, express, etc...the usual fixins, all for 619.00 (plus shipping and tax made it more like 680 something).
My screen did go crappy on me though and kept shorting, wouldn't let the laptop start up properly. 3-5 days later, new screen, no more shorting problems. Also I upgraded the RAM to 4gb.
It ain't top of the line but it's damn good for the price! -
I would be curious as to how well that card handles TF2, any chance of testing?
-
What is TF2, sorry not up to date on all the gaming acronyms. Also I have played the following:
Dawn of War, everything maxed, easily playable.
Oblivion, mostly everything high..reduced grass and character / item appearance to half bar, water high with ripples and spec distance about half. AAx2, and still scoring 30+fps outside. Never seen it drop below 20, even with like 7 or 8 characters on screen fighting at once.
Will update on FEAR and stuff shortly -
Team Fortress 2
-
How is the screen? Is it bright and crisp?
Thanks -
