Does Supper Glue also work if you've broken your Lunch or Dinner? ;)

To the OP: Call Dell and see what they can do for you.

So many people have had problems with their logos and XPS stickers...

Dell really needs to ramp up their logo quality.

You would think that they would make them bullet proof. I mean its essentially free advertising for them.

I'm still curious how people manage to break the logo on a laptop...

I know notebooks are meant to be portable, but tossing them into the air and not catching them isn't my definition of portable....

No, the lettering (both 'DELL' and 'XPS') are actually thin pieces of metal that seem to fray off the body, and end up catching against the fabric case people use to protect their laptops. Throwing a laptop up in the air and letting it drop on the floor wouldnt, in all likely hood, replicate this problem.

You would think they would apply some resin over the emblem, so it was actually cemented INTO the laptop, and not just glued on it.

I think it'd be better if they were etched into the surface and filled with a durable material of some sort.

Dell will not send out new Logos as I had this issue with one of our M1330 where the P came off.
Ring Tec support and the will send out an Tec/Engineer with a new Lid. Now if you don't want the engineer to open your unit ask for the lid this way you'll have a spare lid and can use it for parts...(Wireless cables, webcam cables, and your Logos) Make sure you tell the what screen you have and the color even that they will have your service tag detail they still get the order wrong at times.

    I'm P-less on my 1330 as well.

I think it's related to the paint. I bet they're applying the logos before the paint has fully cured, and that's impacting the quality of the bond.

So Dell sent a tech to your house with a new lid or did they mail it?
Did they charge you? How about if you just want to buy one?
I'd like to buy three lids... black, red, blue you know... just to have 'em. :D

    Przemorx,

Dell will usually not replace a bezel under warranty for cosmetic issues. You need to convince Dell that its a workmanship defect and it is affecting your system's performance, and may be they would consider your claim. Don't ask me how you would go about doing this, because I don't think its possible. Your best bet might be to find the bezel assembly on ebay or an online spare parts retailer. Personally, I prefer www.parts-people.com.

    Good Luck!
