During my 40 days of waiting I read a ton of bad reviews and was starting to lose hope. My laptop arrived yesterday and I was extremely pleased with it.

-The latch that holds the screen down seems much sturdier than previous reviews claim, perhaps this newest shipment has a better latch?

-Using the included earbuds I do faintly hear a hissing sound, but using my own headphones I hear absolutely nothing. Even with the creative earbuds, playing music at the lowest volume would overpower the noise completely.

-I am a victim of the C2D whine, but using RMClock I was able to fix it within minutes (even though I had no prior experience with this problem or program).

-Lastly, it is no where near as bulky as some have made it out to be. I can only compare it to my girlfriend's 13" macbook and I have to say the difference in weight is not terrible. I plan on taking this to college and doing a fair amount of walking. In this right carrying case it will be quite easy to transport this notebook.

Thank you for your comments. Always good to hear people enjoying their purchase. I do apologize, but can you (or anyone), just explain what C2D whine is? Oddly, first I am seeing these letters. Although I try to visit the forum daily. Thank you in advance and again glad you are enjoying your 1520.

C2D = Core 2 Duo. So DJMD713, you had to underclock your CPU to remove the whine?

Yes would be really cool if you could tell us how to use rmclock. I have no idea (and still no 1520).
Does anyone know what that does? Do I get less performance or less runing time?

I used RMClock to keep the CPU from underclocking on its own. So basicly it keeps the processor busy enough not to idle. Since I'm always running on AC power I don't have to worry about the extra strain on battery life. I'm gonna try and find a way to keep the processor underclocked when running on battery.
