    Hi all,

i have a m140 and it makes noise, hissing, buzzing, whatever you call it. Tech support replace hard drive, and system board and it's still making buzz. i tried removing macromedia flash 8, and the noise is gone.
Anyway, is there anyone in here having the same problem or is it just me? And what is your solution for the problem?

    Thanks for your input

physical buzzing or through the sound card. my 9300 has a physical buzzing where the CPU is located, which gets louder when it clocks to the full 2 ghz. its really quite though. i can only hear it in a silent room with no fans or the hdd spinning.

How is your display on the 140? Any leakage or sparkle effect?

the display is okay, minor leakage. The sound seems like it's comming from the middle of the keyboard. I can only hear in a quiet room though. it's just a little frustrating to hear constantly on like that.

ya iam pretty sure thats a cpu related problem. i have read it is kinda common with the Pentium M. some people can get it to go away changing the usb power settings in device manager or by connecting somthing into the usb connectors. this did not work for me. some people go as far as putting glue over the circuit that put off the high pitched sound.

I think what you heard is normal. Two of my m140's have the same little whining noise too.

This may be a generic P-M MOBO problem - see the I9300 hissing problem thread for more information. I believe this problem is isolated to the Dothan and Sonoma CPUs only.
