Cool. I'm jealous. Like you, I'm not ordering the TrueLife.

True-life is a nice screen, don't get me wrong, but I prefer running everything in native resolution and you can't game in 1920x1200 or at least at great FPS. Just my thoughts.
-
Yes, I agree with you that screen is nice with Truelife but like you, it's for users who really need it i.e. people who works on graphics (?). My i630m has truelife and ugh.. I don't like it really.. things are small. I have to adjust the display to use 120 dpi to be able to see things easily and clearly. I guess, it's because of my bad eyesight
That's why I decided to not to customize with Truelife again in the upcoming i9400. I will just put the money to upgrade the service (2 years support, completecover), bluetooth module, DVD+/-RW ;-) -
Haha... Well I hope you continue to enjoy it. Yes it is quite large.. heh.
Make sure read to read about some people's problems with the clean install. From what I understand it will / can disable the dell media direct function. And it's a very complicated process to get it back. -
I decided against the more expensive screen because the shiny screens give me horrible headaches. Even so 1440x900 is pretty nice and very close to my desktops 1680x1050 LCD so i am very very happy with it.

lol, people .... I was very suprised when I started playing CS
I didn't know that there is an option "Widescreen" with resolution 1440x900 <wow> but now I have to play with touchpad because I'm waiting for A4tech X-718F mouse

I haven't tryed that yet. I reinstalled WMC on my 9300 2 days after having it with the 2 CDs Dell sent me and it runs faster then my AMD 2800 desktop. -
Congrats, I might get the Dell Inspiron 6400 or the Sony FE. I need it for university so I cant get a big laptop as my current one is really big already!

it depends on which game your talking about when running 1920x1200. i can play CSS on it very easily, but i know other games would have a much harder time. people really need to get over their low res screens. i dont know how people can enjoy a screen where you can almost point to a single pixel. o well its their preference, i love that dell caters to people like me that want as much resolution as they can get. if i could i would have ordered a 2560x1600 screen.

"Would it be easier, in your opinion, to just uninstall the bloatware instead reformatting?"
I think thats the better way to go... at least untill there is a easier way to restore it. -
I agree with Fredrick_NP... just uninstall the unwanted programs then run a registry cleaner to remove the remnants. The reinstallation of MediaDirect is quite tricky. Some can simply repair it while others requires reinstallation of the OS again.
-
I don't know, every game I play I use 1920x1200, even FEAR. And that is the ONLY game that I only get around 30 fps average in, but I still would rather a few less fps with a MUCH nicer resolution!!
High res screens are all about preference -
In my opinion, high-resolution LCDs are better but not worth the money.
-
It's definitely a user preference. Both usually have some sort of light leakage. The TrueLife's are better looking, but tax games more and have glare, plus cost an extra 350 (it would've in my case). The WXGA+ allows gaming in native resolution, and you don't need to squint to see the text, and it has a matte finish (take it or leave it). For me, the combination of WXGA+ in the laptop for portable use, and a dell 24" (stunningly awesome monitor) was the right decision.

Hi all, well I don't know what the problem is with the Dell media direct functions. Works just fine on mine. I had just finnished hacking/updateing my Bio so I can install my 6800 Ultra and while the 9300 was off, I figured I would try the play button. It tuned on my lappy and went right into WMC.
Again, I reinstalled my OS 2 days after I got it with the WMC DVD and the drivers and utilities CD Dell sent me. Everything works perfectly.
My precious :D
