I ordered a M1330 on 17 Dec 2007 with all default configurations. I got an estimated delivery date of 7 Jan 2008.
Here is the status:
17 Dec 2007: Order received
18 Dec 2007: Manufacturing build complete
18 Dec 2007: Ship from factory
The status on the website is stuck on that till date;
However the dell represented has been updating me the status via e-mail which is as follows:
27 Dec 2007: Under custom clearance
31 Dec 2007: Cleared customs
3 Jan 2008: Waiting to be invoiced
Then on 4 Jan 2007 I received an auto generated mail saying that my orders revised estimated delivery date is 28 Jan 2008 and right now the order is in the process of being shipped from the factory. Do you guys have any idea what this is about? Whats with the order status being shifted from being invoiced to shipping from factory?
However I have sent them a mail informing them about my concern and the amount of inconvenience this delay will be causing me. Also I have asked them for compensation. What do you think guys, when will I get my laptop? Also will I be compensated? Please comment.
PS: I am staying in Pune, India

I am into the similar situation. Ordered 28/12, EDD is 7/01 (today) and got an "Order delayed" email from DELL on 4/01 stating EDD is slipped to 28/01.
I spoke with the sales person who handled my case and informed him about the mail.
Today he contacted me and told that the mail was sent due to some problem in the system and my order is in transit to my place.
Don't worry, you will get your notebook soon..

Thanks shri. I recieved my notebook yesterday evening. the order delay mail scared the **** out of me but it seems the mail is sent even if your order is delayed by one day. thats what happened in my case. The automail system pushes forward the EDD by 20 days each time it generates an order delayed mail, even if your delivery is delayed by only one day.
