Yeah, you read it right! I had a dell technician at my house earlier today (11/13) and it was a disaster! I ordered a new keyboard and mousepad for my I1420 and what I got was reddish/brown funky smelling stains on my couch! After spraying it down for practically an hour and throwing away my couch pillow, the smell has finally weakened. It lingers only slightly in the air. To make matters worse, he screwed my computer up worse than it was before! All I needed was a new keyboard because it squeeked! and my mousepad had a minor defect!! Why now is it that I can't even get internet access??? He broke the wifi switch on the front of my computer so I can't turn it on, and the driver won't even install correctly! Aye. Oh, not to mention, I'm missing the black filler cards! Grrr, what an experience.
I have to say, I hope none of you have to experience the funky smelling, reddish brown stains!!! Hide from them!

*Checks bottom of laptop for stains*
-
weird....what did it smell like exactly?
-
That is so disgusting.
Was he fixing your laptop on the couch?
Did he sit on the couch? -
He was sitting on my couch and I was too, right next to him. Right before he got up to leave I noticed that his pants were half way down his butt! I couldn't believe it! After he left, I walked back to my couch and noticed a bunch of stains. It was red and brown and it was smeared on the pillow. I didn't know what it was but all I could smell was this old, musty gym socks, poop smelling aroma. :::barf::: I had to throw away the pillow and spray the couch down. It seriously looked like a mixture of poop and blood. I mean, to just top it all off, I can't believe he screwed up my computer. I can't get internet access on the 1420 for a few days now. GRR!

I think that your may have successfully identified the substances and in the process completely grossed me out.
-
That just inspired me to go get some Taco Bell.
-
yikes
-
Skid marks on a couch?? Now that's completely disgusting. The guy needs to see a doctor or a person who can at least help with personal hygiene. Maybe you should contact his employer if for no reason other than he damaged your computer.
-
yikes! i hate to be in your shoe right now
what you can do right now is....
who called the technician? is it on behalf of dell? is your machine under warranty repair?
let just hope the smell is disease free and not contagiouss
i suggest you yell at dell and the company who employed the guy. the very least you could get is that they will repair the laptop again with different person.
i wish you all the best of luck
btw, hey airman; i didn't see this coming; i thought this gonna be another macbook discolouration problem. you thought the same don't you? -
I spoke with a dell rep as soon as the technician left. He gave me the number to the onsite location incase I wanted to file a complaint about him. They are also sending a different technician out here. Hopefully in a matter of days I will forget about this event. lol

Thats exactly what I thought -
good luck IUCandy
shame about the couch and the pillow though. maybe you can ask for some sort of compenstation... might now want to try to throw away that pillow yet.

I would make a claim for the professional cleaning of the couch.

Oh my goodness... that's horrible. I'm really late commenting on this but oh my...
I'm praying that I have no reason to call a technician :x -
Lol, i'm sorry but I just laughed for the past five minutes. That is disgusting, sad, and hilarious all at once.
