Hello, I just got the Dell N5010 and I'm a bit disappointed with the image quality. I got this machine mainly for photo viewing and editing. I just transfered some images from my camera and they all look grainy, a lot grainier than they actually are. Photos on facebook look like someone came and washed the sharpness and saturation clean off. I have tried several times to calibrate it and it seems to be slowly getting better with each try.

Images look the same on both IE and latest firefox.

I am upgrading from a Compaq Pressario V5000, running trusty XP. The screen on it is not an LED and does not get as bright but the saturation and sharpness of web images especially on sites like facebook and flickr is noticeably better.

I'm not ready to get an eternal monitor. So how can I get optimal image quality out of this thing?

I apologize if this has been discussed already. If it has please guide me to the thread.

    Thanks!

What graphic's setup is in it?

    Reviewers say its a 5470?

If thats true then your running XP on a system that was designed around Win7

With XP you have to run a older legacy graphics driver.Id say thats your problem but I could wrong.

No the dell is running windows 7 home premium and has the standard Intel HD Graphics card. Its the compaq that runs XP.

The sharpness and color has greatly improved since the original post maybe it's my expectations that were too high or that the compaq screen was the faulty one. After looking at both screens side by side the compaq is so warm it almost looks yellow. Images I edited on it to look vibrant look dull on the dell. The more I use the dell the less faulty I find it.
    Thank you for replying.
