Hi Guyz, just bought N5110.this new laptop has worst lcd i have ever seen. colors doesnt look good at all. whole screen is cool blue hurts my eyes. i see lines in icons. feels like running old win 95 looking screen with 256 color.

Highest reso is 1366x768. anyways can I change lcd on this 5110 to hi res like 1400x900 or higher.

It has intel HD 3000. no video card.

I have vostro 1500 also and I have lcd with true life and maximum 1600 plus reso. very happy with it. colors are warm and do not hurt eyes.

    Thanks

Your biggest hurdle will be finding a full 40 pin LVDS cable that is compatible with the motherboard.

Unfortunately 1440x900 and 1680x1050 are 16:10 and that aspect ratio for the most part is not found today. You could go 15.6" 1600x900 or 1920x1080.

It's not possible to upgrade the LCD screen to anything higher than a 1366x768 resolution. The reason for this is that the motherboard's LCD output does not have all 40 pins of the LVDS connector. A 1366x768 resolution is not using pins #20 to #30; any higher resolution would use some or all of these pin range. Dell went on the cheap route making this computer; and made the motherboard and LCD connector without these connections.

I know it sucks; I bought an N5110 also and although the graphics card is more than capable of better resolutions, I'm stuck with a lousy 1366x768.

Sometimes dell makes different motherboards i.e one with a video card and one with just on board video. You could always try and see if they have another option for the laptop.

N5110 has a GT525M motherboard but still only has a 720p LCD with it, Inspirons haven't had a high resolution option from the factory since like 1525?

I'm sorry for bumping an old thread, I couldn't find any other discussions about this laptop.
I understand that you can't get a higher resolution screen, but what about a better quality one? The one I have has a really bad blue tint and the colours are way off. It is also a glossy screen.
I wonder whether it's possible to get a better matte TN panel, or even an IPS with the same resolution?
