Hi, I've recently recieved my 700m in the mail, and the second I got it I reformatted it to Win XP Pro (Clean format). Now, I've downloaded all the drivers and everything seems to work fine, however I just can't seem to get the lappy out of stand by mode whenever it goes into standy by. For example, I close the cover to my laptop and it goes into stand by, now I reopen the lid and click on the on/off button, now the power light goes to solid green from blinking green and nothing happens from there on. Therefore, I have to hold onto the on/off button for a bit then it shuts off, and I have to press it again to turn it back on. Can someone please help me?

I can come out of stand by for some reason when I'm in 1024 res, however I would like to use the 1200 resolution.

Again, when it's stuck in stand by mode the screen is just black...maybe it's just that the monitor's max resolution hasn't been set...someone please help?

if you open the lid after going into standby mode, that brings it out of standby mode, the action of pushing the power button after opening the lid is a 2nd action that is putting the notebook back into standy.

don't push the power button, just open the lid and wait

Yes, I do open the lid and wait however the power light stops blinking, and the screen is still back. I think it might be the rest i'm running which is 1200x800. Possibly when I did a clean format, the monitor doesn't recognize the max resolution, that's why it won't come back out of stand by mode. Is there like a driver that I'm missing?!?

When I close the lid, the power light starts blinking. Now, when I open the lid, the light stops blinking and I can hear the hard drive/cd drive trying to start back up, however it stops in the middle and the blinking light turns solid again. So that's when I have to turn it off and turn it back on again.

Thanks, but I have no clue which one is the LCD driver it seems to me that all I can see are Dell's LCD monitor drivers.

hmmm... dunno, doen't the 700m only have one resolution; 1280x768/800?

    well, just fyi...

    solid green = power on
    blinking green = standy

if it's going from solid to blinking, then it's going into standy mode...

you may have a driver problem (?), but i think if there is an underlying problem, it's only being compounded when you push the power button after opening the lid, unless you're pushing it more than couple minutes after opening the lid? how long are you waiting?

well, if you're actually waiting 60 seconds, that should be enough to determine if it's just slow or actually hanging up

    i'm out of ideas

    good luck
