what screen brightness, power saving modes,? 53/w per hour doesnt mean 53 hours if that what you were thinking, screen brightness, the apps you are running, drive usage, all drain the battery, playing a cd from the disc dive will tank your battery much much quicker than off the harddrive, the 6 cell is the smaller battery, if you need more time unplugged, get a bigger battery, lower the brightness, use the optical drive only when you have to, and enable power saving modes where possible, cpu/vid card/network card etc. Your battery sounds fine, you just seem to be expecting a bit more than its capeable of

what do you consider standard?, max brightness is not standard on battery power, and will drain your battery much quicker than half of 3/4. I dont have your particular machine, so I dont know for certain. I do have a 6 cell battery, but its on a machine with a much smaller screen, and a more battery friendly video card, at a guess I'd say 2 hours with power saving measure in effect, please dont pm general questions in the future
