So I was chatting with a representative from Dell on their website's live chat service, and right before I closed the window, I asked if Dell is releasing any new models tomorrow:
http://www.businesswire.com/portal/...d=news_view&newsId=20080811006086&newsLang=en
And he said that they are realeasing a model, but only one, and it's an Inspiron.
Just thought I'd share...![]()

-

ooo
Mini Inspirons !!!!
-
I want a new XPS, not Inspiron
-
Cool. Minis but I am waiting for the XPS
-
isn't that the latitude's...i though the op was talking about inspirons -
It seems that they are clumping the Dell E with the Latitude E series. Sort of like a companion device.
-
Yeah I'm confused too... Seems as though they are both E's? -
i'm not sure if y'all have seen this yet but

personally, i hope to god ur wrong about dell ONLY releasing 1 laptop. im reallllllly hoping that dell's gonna let slip the xps's too
-
The Dell Chat CSRs are still playing dumb in regards to any new models. I am hoping for the XPS too.
-
Did someone say my Mini I was coming out!!!!
Atbnet ~ SOON and we order! WoOT!
It's gotta be tomorrow with all this *media ruckus* all over the place today!
   -

Tomorrow is in 29 minutes, but I wont hold my breath to see if Dell updates their website =)
Or will I? ::snickers:: -
I don't think Dell will update their site at midnight - it will steal the thunder from their press conference tomorrow which begins at 9am PST. Hey, maybe they'll take down the store at 9am PST and put up a post-it note saying it'll be back soon. And then, once it's done, the store will reopen and the new computers will magically show up!
-
Wait a second, is Dell now Apple?
-
sonoritygenius Goddess of Laptops
@ElectricTool: shh! happy thoughts...!
I am dying for a freakin XPS Centrino 2!!!! -
-
that was bad bad bad.....LMAO.
Im am glad everyone is keeping up with the *latest and greatest* for the release!!!!
Cin -
another lame release..the only thing that will save dell would be xps refresh
-
Who cares about the E series? They should do the nVidia way: first release the monsters to attract the attention and then release the mid range.
-
-
Maybe they're saving the best for last ?
-
-
apparently michael dell is gonna make an announcement from new delhi on the 13th. rumours suggest it might be the mini inspiron notebooks.
-
Engadget seems to think we might also see a 10 inch Dell E introduced but available later.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/12/dell-e-series-netbooks-to-include-10-incher-today-we-hope-to-fi/
The lack of any XPS news is discomforting. -
Maybe we should give up on ever seeing new XPSes again.
-
i think if dell dont show their new xps line today, they will probably upgrade the current m1530/m1330 if they can?
-
That would be fine with me. The current M1530 is just fine, I just want a different card at this point.
-
If they throw on a different card and a backlit keyboard, it would be perfect. I wish the price could be at most $1,450, but... thats obviously not going to be the case.
-
-
sonoritygenius Goddess of Laptops
lol exactly Dell will hold out the release as much as they can cause the INFLUX of college kids' demand is so high they dont care if its Centrino 1, 2 or 3 they just WANT one Dell = Profit!
-
-
Or bump the chipset, GPU, and throw in an LED backlight on the XPS 1730. Pretty please?
Guess we find out in a bit over an hour...but IMO the people who buy Latitude's don't really care about technology. They may want some buzzword, but you could throw them a Pentium 4 based Celeron and they wouldn't actually know the difference. -
no xps today
. so, which is a better buy, asus m50vm-x1, macbook pro, or studio 15?
-
Personally I won't consider that Asus because it uses CCFL lighting. Otherwise the three systems seem fairly comparable, other than that Asus having the new chipset. -
-
Personally I'm not really woried about that as I haven't heard any first hand accounts on Dell's forums (and some of those guys are Folding 24/7 on 1530s
) but I can understand why you'd be hesitant. Notebooks are really unreliable anyway (22% industry average failure rate per year if I'm remembering right) so I'm planning on getting a 3 or 4 year warranty regardless.
-
the new precision and latitude e-series have been launched..
you will find links to configure the precision m4400 and m2400 at:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=285143 -
Looks like I, or rather the sales rep, was wrong.
-
There is still a possibility of a release tomorrow.
-
I specified an Inspiron. So I guess I was only half wrong then
-
Some new tech lcd on M4400 spec:
15.4" WUXGA TrueLife RGB LED display (1920x1200) resolution (Coming soon.)
15.4" WUXGA AG day light viewing (1920x1200) (Coming soon.) -
-
Well, it is good to see 1920x1200 LED screens now. Maybe these will trickle down to the XPS notebooks.
-
-
Eh, I'm not expecting anything this week. Probably not this month
That mini Inspiron didn't even get released? At least that would have been INTERESTING. The Latitude's are just a bizarre thing to emphasize I think. People buying those don't care about technology or anything, just buzz words. Meanwhile the people who actually want new technology are still sitting here (or considering alternatives...) -
-
just wondering....but is it only to me that it seems that dell is releasing lappys with the quadro card, and holding back on the ones with the "possibly problematic" nVidia series?
NEW DELL MODEL - coming out tomorrow
