Some of you may know that a couple of months ago, I purchased an Inspiron 1420. (1.8ghz, 160gb hard drive, etc.) Well, just yesterday, I called Dell and asked if I could return that laptop in order to take advantage of the 500 dollar off coupon. They actually let me return it too, even after I had went over the 21 day thing.
So, here's the specs for my NEW Inspiron 1420:(Did I forget to mention it was the same price as my old one, with the upgrades and discount?)
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7500, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz 4M L2 Cache
Midnight Blue Color
2GB Memory, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 14.1 inch display (1440x900)
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GS Graphics Card (128mb)
250GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive

Hi! If you don't mind me asking...how much did you end up coming out price wise in the end? w/the discount, etc.? I still didn't order mine last night, like I said I going to... (I have a friend trying to talk me into the 1520)
****Congrat's on getting them to return past the 21 day point, also & working w/you -

I always used high-end Dell Precision notebooks until my Precision M60 crashed this summer. I am currently using a Latitude D830 but I wanted a more portable notebook. I was considering the XPS M1330 but I need at least WXGA+ resolution. The XPS M1330 performance seems to be about the same as the 1420 and I don't like to pay that much extra and get a low resolution WXGA 1280x800 display. My other option was the Dell Precision M2300 but it was going to cost about $2K and the only major advantage seems to be the better NVIDIA Quadro graphics card.
I will have to see if I made the right choice when I get this notebook. -
Quick update on my laptop; the estimated ship date is November 20.
