NEW Inspiron 1420/1520/1720 Shipping Date!

I thought the other thread wasnt very useful because it didnt take into account that people didnt order on the same day. How are you expected to wait before you get your notebook shipped?

I took the plunge and ordered the 1420 last night.
Expected ship date is August 11.

 

ouch, they originally told me august 2nd (i ordered yesterday morning) but when i talked to them today to make sure everything is going good they told my july 20th.

Yes, post some real pics! It would be nice if laptop manufacturers included a section "Real pics" where you can see the laptop in a real environment instead of the flash based images with fake backgrounds.

 

For real that drives me crazy. At least there are some "ok" videos out about the 1520.. But wheres the 1420 videos?!

 

I ordered my notebook on 6/28, with the estimated shipping date to be around 7/16-17 and delivery date to be around 7/20 to 7/23.

However, I received a random call from Dell earlier today and honestly I really couldn't understand much of what the guy said because he had a heavy accent and I was trying to sleep, but he told me my order was being "expedited" or whatever, and is coming out on the next shipment. He also said he would send me tracking number and updated status on my order when it moves into the next phase. Afterwards, I got up and I check my order status and the delivery date is now 7/16 or 7/17.

Music to my ears!! Can you expedite it another week?!

I hope next shipment is the first shipment. First shipment i believe is today or tomorrow. but that could be a rumor.

 

Order 6/30 looking at August 1 delivery. Haven't had the time to call and ask them for an update though

Is it just me or are the 1420's taking longer to ship?

I ordered on 7/1 , estimated ship date is 8/1 and gets to me 8/6-8

I sure hope its sometime in july before the 20th, but im probably dreaming.

 

I do believe that certain features adds more time to the delivery date. Also, I think most people who ordered their Inspiron around the first 3-4 days of release will get theirs on the first shipment. I assume they had a massive amount of orders and a lot of them will have their dates pushed back if ordered a week after.

yehaaaaaaaaaaaa, should be here on tuesday i think (its coming from ireland to me over in germany, so i guess ups will need about 2-3 days for delivery)....

at least on this day we will know if it carries GDDR3 oder just 2

Im hopeing for mine soon. I ordered it the 29th which means its been in production for 5 days now. hopefuly it will ship today. if not ill have to wait for monday

 

One of the things that is delaying them according to Dells site is the 1440x900 screen. If you select that option it says it may delay your shipment!

 

mine has the 1440x900 and it has shipped

weird thing: it has been in pre-production till 3 a.m. this morning and roughly 7h later its on its way Oo

no number... reveived a mail from the dell orderwatch service to check current state and a few hours ago i got a confirmation mail...

 

My Estimated Delivery Date is:7/30/07 for Canada

 

F*** i just talked to a dell sales rep. He told me there was some part that was only procured on 7/4 something on the chassis.

he told me that it could delay some shipping dates.
That explains why the first inspirons had a 20 day lead time and now they have a 10 day lead time.

 

I had to call the automated order status to get an accurate check on the status of my product (since I ordered through the education discount and I couldn't find any online assistance for education?). My status page just says "in production" but the automated order status thingy told me that my laptop was in the testing phase. (In USA btw)

 

Add me to the list of people who have had their orders "expedited" by a rep . I called the automated system and my laptop is in the "Boxing" stage. I hope that means it will ship today or Monday! My estimated ship date is still 7/13. The automated order status number is 1-800-433-9014 (I spoke to the rep in chat).

lol sorry thanks to you i learned that my order is in the "boxing stage" and its thanks to the tele # that i learned it . I didnt know that they give more detailed info on the shipment that way.

Are you sure you entered your order number correctly? If so, I'd call an actual live rep or get on chat and explain what happened so you can get a little more information.

 

I also thank you Stella, it also says mine is in the boxing stage. How long until I can expect it to be shipped and to receive an email of that action?

 

orginally i had my 1520 shipping out on teh 18th but now that today theres a price drop on the 1520 its gonna take much longer for my notebook to come

 

I cancelled the order I placed on 6/30 & reordered today 7/6 (after a few changes). Basically for the same price I paid on the 30th I got a 160GB HD, 2GB memory upgrade free & MS Office small business. Ship date for my old order was 7/13, Ship date for the new order is 7/19! I cant wait

ouchies got the confirmation original ship out date was the 18th or july and delivery on the 19th... now its gonna ship out on the 25th and expected delivery 30-31 of july

 

Well I just ordered up today my 1420 and it's showing "In Production" already with a projected ship date of 07/19, so I voted 2-3 weeks.

I'm excited!

 

Call dells order status thingy it will tell u much more accurately where your order is and what stage its in. the number is :1800-433-9014. it will probably tell you its in preproduction.

wow.... weeee i just recalled dell again.. lol the rep told me that i might have my laptop to be able to be reshipped on the 18!! if not it'll be any day after that with next day delivery free wooo.. cant wait for my laptop now...

 

I got sick of waiting for my T61 and ordered an Inspiron 1420 about two days ago. It gave me estimated ship of August 7th due to a backorder on the 14.1" WXGA+ screen. Since that put a $1250 charge on my credit card, naturally my Thinkpad shipped (and therefore billed) the next day.

I canceled the Dell today, but when I did that's what I had - about 4 weeks.

 

Great timing with that lowlymarine. Oh well, at least it wasn't on a checking account! And I can't help noticing that's a lot of RAM in your ThinkPad.

July 25th is my estimated ship date. The store rep said it's usually 7-10 days, so I'll hope for earlier but use the official one as my default.

 

I just called 5 minute ago this awesome # and I'm also in the boxing stage... I can't wait for my lappy!!!

 

Because i canceled my order and placed a new one to save 100 bucks while upgrading my system, i have to wait until aug 6th for it to ship, then i get it around aug 10, then i go to school aug 12. So cool... NOT
