Hi,
recently i installed the latest Dell 32-bit XP Drivers (174.31) on my Vostro 1500 and since then i noticed the fan in my Vostro was turning on more often than i was used to. With undervolting the fan normally doesn't turn on at all, so i was wondering what was wrong.
Once i looked at the Task-Manager i noticed that the nvsvc32.exe Driver Helper Service was causing CPU Load every few seconds in connection with the svchost prozesses, thus causing my CPU to heat up and not being able to stay in the power saving states.
Since a search on google didn't turn up anything that nvsvc32.exe is needed for, i disabled the according Service "NVIDIA Display Driver Service" in the Windows XP Service List and now my Vostro is staying as cool and quiet as ever.
Just wanted to let you know if your machine got getting warmer and noisier aswell with newer display drivers.
If you know, that that service is needed for something important, please do tell.

I've noticed heating up with my m1330 (vista) as well... this could prove useful!
Are there any anomalies after disabling the service, ie what does it do?
edit: btw how did you go about undervolting? Is it dangerous? -
There are plenty of Threads here, i think... just have a look with the search.
