I ordered my laptop without the optional internal Bluetooth. From their manual, it shows the instructions for installing and removing the BT module. It is located in a small compartment once you take the battery off. You just remove the cover and install/remove the BT module.

Here is a link to the module location http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/btooth.htm#wp1000550

The hard part is ordering this from Dell. I have spent over 2 hours with all sorts of departments, the last was in the middle of ordering it for me, but they disconnected me after 8 minutes on hold and a 25 minute conversation of me explaining what I needed.

I am not positive if it is the Dell 355 Bluetooth Internal card that you can easily see when configuring a new E1505.

I was hoping someone who owns one with the module can just give me the part# and beat Dell to the punch. They offered me it for free as compensation but I can't take explaining what I need again!

??? Why wouldn't it be? I can't see them having 2 different options for internal bluetooth on the same laptop. At least I've never heard of such.

I just placed my order for a 1505 so I cannot open it up yet and see for you, but here is the itemized line from my order if it helps:

Bluetooth Options Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Internal (2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate) [430-1777]

Not sure why Dell could not find that parts list or why they have listed two different BT modules. I just want one.

The part# on that list for the 6400, which is the same as my E1505, is RD350, so I will go with that.

Thanks for the help, and lets see if they can modify my order and include the BT on my existing order.

    thetick97,

I found Dell's part# for the module listed in that link. I then went to Dell's parts order page and it does not show up nor does the 355 unit, using the manufacturer part# 430-1777.

Any way you could pop out your BT module and check for me?

I would greatly appreciate it as I just got an email that my 2nd E1505 just shipped so there goes modifying that order.

From my experience, it would not have mattered. Any time I've changed an order, the process has been to cancel the first order and place a new order from scratch. I have even had to cancel an order and replace the order to get a $20 savings (price dropped over night). They would not just credit the difference but they were more than willing to do the "cancel first order reorder same laptop at lower price." routine.

If you are still trying to find the part number in a week or so, PM me and I'll pull my card (once I get me laptop) and get the # on the card for ya.

I appreciate the offer. I am trying right now to order the part.

I am annoyed because my brother got his XPS M1710 last week, could not use his draft-N PCMCIA card, so they gave him the replacement integrated draft-N card for free.

Guess I have to call them directly because the online chat rep just disconnected in the middle of looking for the part for me.

How do you contact a rep from the US?

I would also like them to stop calling me Mr. "first name".

*** Only one they show is the 350 module so I ordered that.
