    Dear friends:

Although using computers, I'm new to notebook world.

I'm trying to buy one of the two Dell: E1505 or 1405.

Aside the size of the screen, my point is: is it worth the extra $179 for the ATI X1400 (over the Intel 950).

Could anyone explain me what the difference I would "feel", using the computer only for Word/Excel and some Photoshoping or alike?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Frank

If you game then you want dedicated graphics, though for what you're doing the GMA 950 is fine.

You wouldn't notice any difference for the tasks you are planning to do if you have the dedicated graphics, since that is handled by the CPU.

    Thank you Primehunter326.

Even the pictures, won't take any benefits from ATI?

What is already know about Vista?

Will it be better to have a dedicated graphic card, considering the demand or Vista?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Frank

If you want to use the Visa's visual interface Aero, you will want the dedicated gpu, for sure.

No pictures will be fine running off integrated graphics. Windows Vista will run fine off of an Intel 950GMA. But a X1400 might help, however you don't really need it.

If you "can", i would get the x1400

You will have a better GPU to suit you, for the future. If you want to use this notebook for a good 2 years, then yes, i suggest getting the X1400

If your on a tight budget, you can go with the GMA 950.

Just remember, if you get the integrated card, dont plan on upgrading it.

If you are not going to game, I would suggest the the 950. Spend the money you save on getting more system memory. Photoshop tends to be more CPU and memory intensive unless you are doing really high end stuff.

wrt Vista, there isn't any conclusive evidence out there at this point showing what GPU's will/won't work with it.
