Lastnight my 3 year broke my lcd screen on my Dell Inspiron E1505. I am searching for a new screen to replace it with. It originally had the 15.4" WXGA wide screen true life for inspiron 6400/e1505. But I want to replace it with the 15.4" WSXGA ultra sharp true life glossy lcd screen. I am pretty sure I will have to change a cable to be able to do this but my question is; "Is it possible to switch to the WSXGA screen?" That is the one that I really want.

So can I do this? And where is the best place to buy a replacement screen?

    Thanks for any help!!
    Donna

Yes, you can purchase up to a WUXGA screen if you want for your E1505. You can find them easily on ebay.

I personnally don't see any reason that would make the replacement not possible.

Just do a search on the Internet and you'll probably find an online store that sells screens separately.

Thank you, I am new to laptop repair so I just want to make sure I do it right. I have only had experience with desktop computers.

I found this one on ebay that comes with the inverter. I am asuming that is what I was going to have to replace, so please correct me if I am wrong. Does this look like a good deal to you? It seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

Thank you, I really appreciate you posting that link to the instructions. I found some but not as good as the one that you posted. I have saved that link for future reference.

Thank you again for your help!

with that much, I would spend a few more buck to buy a new laptop, I think 3 years is enough to update new technology :).

Ah... it was my 3 year old son that broke my 1 year and 1 month old laptop. I don't think the price of the screen is bad.

Ok I called Dell support to find this out and they would not tell me anything other than I can not do anything with my laptop. I was tol that my "only" option was to ship it back to Dell and let them replace the lcd screen with the exact same type. I was also told that I could not let anyone else do this repair. Also that I could not upgrade the screen because it would would not be compatible.

Now I know most of this is not or can't be true. But I am trying to figure out "if" I need to order/replace my video card. Can anyone help me out?
