    Hi all,
I have finally decided to buy an i9300 and have just been waiting for one of the good deals to hit australia. Finally it has happened. I can get a 2Ghz i9300 with a free upgrade to the 6800go and a 33% discount. damm good deal, works out to be about $1,500 cheaper than when i originally configured the same system when it came out a few weeks ago.

Now the problem i have is this. Is this reduction in price because the XPS2 will be out soon? (Australia didn;t get the XPS1 and i was assuming we won;t see the XPS2 either since it is such a small market here.) $1,500 seems to be a lot to drop off the price of a laptop that hasn;t even been out for a month yet.

Is this normal dell behaviour? is it a one of bargin? or is somethign else coming out soon that i should wait for?

i guess also if the XPS2 comes out here. How much of a premium will there be on it? on the US website the difference in price is just over $1000 (based on normal price with no offers). The equates to about $1400 australian dollars. I would assume that the price differential would be the same or more here in australia if the XPS2 becomes an option

If your going to use the laptop for primarily gaming the xps2 with its faster clocked card might be worth it.

If not, then the 9300 will get you a much better value for your money.

I ordered the xps2 since about the only thing it's going to be used for is gaming, and the extra performance from the go ultra was worth it for me.

The XPS2 does not replace the Inspiron 9300 so pricing is not affected by any such release. The XPS2 is priced at a premium and will be more expensive than the 9300 and you'll definitely see the same type of gap in Australia.

well it now becomes an academic argument as i finally bit the bullet and bought the i9300, with the following specs.

    2.0GhZ PM
    1GB RAM
    100GB HDD
    DVD Durner (dual Layer)
    WUXGA screen
    256MB 6800 Go
    Standard warranty and service
    Cherry Wood Colour Kit :) :) :) :)
    Auto/air powr adapter

    all up $3032

    thats a saving of around $1600 on what i configured last week :) :) :) :)

PS these prices are australian dollars guys so dont freak out :)
