:) Hi everone, I read a lot posts but first time to post myself
Just a question to you guys,
I gonna buy Inspiron 9400 soon (October or so).
and was wondering if the following specs is enough to play Counter Strike 1.6 , Warcraft 3 TFT, and more games in the future, at max settings and resolutions??(my current laptop is 3 years ago and lags as hell, no video card also haha~~)

    so i will buy:
    DELL Inspiron 9400
    - 1.83 hz Intel Duo Core
    - Windows Xp PRO or HOME? (what is difference actually? is PRO that worth)- 1 GB RAM memory (1x1 GB) (can upgrade in the future to add another 1 GB)
    - 17 inch, WUGXA, True Life screen
    - NVIDIA 7900GS video card (so expensive ~_~)
    - Media direct
    - Double layer DVD/CD rw
    - DELL PC restore??--> is this needed guys?? (or no other way to format and fresh install?)
    - 80 or 100 GB SATA hard drive (7200 RPM)
    - then another question: what is difference between:
DELL Nylon carrying case & DELL Nylon SLIM WEIGHT carrying case?
(is the lightweight only more lightweighted? what about SAFETY / thickness?)

    thanks a lot guys!!

    Cheers
    Cheng

The 7900GS is a wonderful GPU that should last you a long time in terms of gaming. Like you said having 1 stick of 1Gig of ram is great so you can upgrade later. In regards to Pro vs. Home, most people would only need home though Pro is suppose to have more security. For what it is worth, I would stick with HOME, save some money. Dell PC is needed for a fresh install, and check out the Dell thread on how to do it. For the cases, I have no idea but the word SLIM seems to be not as good.

There are some additional features of PRO which you can find by doing a thread search in this forum.

    I just bought a E1705/9400
    And here's my spec:

    2GHz T2500
    Windows XP Pro
    17" Truelife LCD
    7900GS
    2GB DDR2-533
    120GB 5400rpm SATA

It's a wonderful laptop with excellent performance.

and 7900 GS will be enough for most games this year at max resolution and max quality.
