Ok so my fathers Dell studio desktop pc running windows 7 home premium 64-bit came with a windows 7 re installation disk. I was wondering if I could use this same disk to re install windows 7 on my inspiron 1545 laptop if I ever needed to or will the disk only work for the dell studio desktop? If I really had to id create the recovery disk but that takes longer. Also could I get the recovery disk to reinstall windows using this link? https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form Seems that it would work. I already sent in a request just in case. I just want a disk to clean install windows without bloat and all that extra stuff.

Hi,
Since you already have the Windows 7 DVD shipped from Dell, you may use the same for both the Studio Desktop and the Inspiron laptop as well. You can surely request for the backup disk by submitting a request form using the link that you have mentioned.
In case you are reinstalling the operating system using the Windows 7 DVD on the Inspiron 1545, please use the link mentioned below to download the drivers, specifically for this system model.
Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
Please use the link mentioned below to register for “My Dell Downloads”, so you can download some of the pre-installed applications as well.
