Hello after long long time reading forums like this I bought my m1330 and it has arrived today. Good construction quality but I have two main complains which are making me think to ask for replacement to dell:

    -The famous whine.
-A little vibration on the palm rest.

The whine is not very annoying, but is there and I would like to have the perfect laptop as I have spent a lot of money on it (ok, not a lot, but a considerable amount). I will try later the bluetooth trick to see if it fixes the whine, but my hopes are not high. Another thing that worry about me is that I have read some cases in which the whine was low in the beggining but after a time the whine increase.
The vibration on the palm rest is not very big and not very annoying, but I would prefer it wasn't there, in fact it shouldn't be there. It is like the hard drive or something like that is transmitting his own vibration to the carcase.

So I am thinking about a replacement, but there is downsides with the replacements:
    -More time to wait
-Maybe the next m1330 will have the same or more flaws. What then? Replace again? :(

So would it be better to run the risk and make a replacement and pray for everything is perfect or should I keep this laptop?

Give me a thought, I need some kind of dialogue to solve my inner conflict  Thank you

It costs you nothing to order a replacement. You get to keep that one and set it up while you wait for the replacement. If the replacement arrives and its worse, you just send the replacement back.

    Its a win win.

The HDD's like 5mm below the palm rest (left side). I don't see how they could remove the vibration entirely...

...btw, if you want to feel better, toss a DVD/CD into the DVD drive and let it spin up to speed; then you won't even notice the vibration from the HDD, lol ;)

I think both are simply attributes (negative) of the design of the computer. There is no perfect at this price point nor at most other price points. I would let it go and enjoy a great product. While it costs nothing to get a replacement it also costs nothing to accept minor inperfections. Chances are the replacement will have the same issues as they are not defects exactly.

Thank you for the feedback :) Today I call and ask for a replacement. Now is time to pray to the lord of m1330's for no-whine this time. We will see, I would like to know too how does it usually work. The boy of the trasport company comes, gives me the new laptop and gimme time to see what of the two laptops I prefer? I would find this quite strange... and how about the times that I can swap the laptop? Can I swap till the eternity? I think in usa is 30 days of replacement, isn't it? I live in Spain and the conditions in the Spanish web dell is not very clear. I ask to the person who phoned but he was not very sure about that (he was only in the technical department and told me to phone the customer service, I will call soon to inform about the conditions; big shame that they are not well explained in the web :( )

    Cheers
