Yes that is a good deal. If possible, get a bigger proccessor, and less ram. Then get the ram from some where ekse because dell's memory is way over priced.

Thanks! Do you think getting 512MB RAM and 1.7 or 1.8 Ghz Processor be better? I think tigerdirect.com is selling 1 GB 533 Mhz SODIMM for around $85. Then it would cost me $985 and the RAM would be 1280 MB with one spare 256MB SODIMM module.

Ya, go for the 1.8GHz processor, and upgrade the ram yourself as you said. Ultimate performance.

note only that, if you can afford it, go for the swxga+ screen. in my opinion, it's the perfect resolution for the screen.

One quick question, I'm getting the above mentioned machine for $900 ($600 off $1499) do you think I sould wait for the "$750 off $1499" deal and if I do then would that machine match the abovementioned specs for less than $900?

The $750 off is on a machine that needs to be higher priced and i believe you should just get it now.
    1.86 Processor
    512MB of Ram
    80GB Hard Drive
For the Screen, if you want a more crisper picture and dont mind having small font, then you might want to consider the upgrade to the screen.

And then the RAM from somewhere else.
