Hey guys, here is the scoop. My Vostro 1500 gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, so I purchased a Studio 1558. On my Vostro, I never really had viewing angle problems. No real shifts in color or anything like that. I kept the screen at the same angle all of the time.

Fast forward to the new Studio 1558 that I just received yesterday. I won't list all specs, but I got the 720p screen and the 512mb ATI card. With about a day of use, the viewing angles seem poor. I'm not talking about looking at it from the side. Just sitting down and looking at it straight on. The colors seem to shift a lot and it seems that I have to put the screen way back for it to look fine.

Keep in mind that I have this laptop in the same exact location as my Vostro was. Everything is the same including the seating situation.

When I boot up Windows the screen looks gray. If I move the screen back and forth, I can see the potential of this screen but I can't seem to find the sweet spot.

Is this normal? Are there any tips you can offer? Do I possibly have a bad screen? Thanks in advance!

Your screen might be bust. Mine has poor angles from below, but otherwise fine from straight on, to the sides, or above. How far away are you sitting?

Thanks for the quick response. I am only sitting a few feet away, pretty close.
