Hi guys, I am looking to upgrade bits in my computer and I am wondering what parts I can upgrade? Trying to upgrade computer so I can use it for games that require a bit more oomf than I have in mine. I am also wondering if I can put 4GB of ram from a Inspiron 1525 in my Inspiron 1420 or anything else from the 1525? Thanks for your help.

You can use that RAM to upgrade it. You can also easily upgrade the harddrive, but that has little bearing on playing games. The video card is definitely not upgradeable.

Thanks for the quick response, I think it would be better to just buy a new gaming PC or Laptop. Any recommendations for a PC or Laptop preferably under $1200?
-
Well the Inspiron is definitely not a gaming notebook. Whether to buy a desktop or notebook is truly a matter of preference. You can get a gaming desktop a lot cheaper than a gaming notebook, plus you have increased ability to upgrade in the future. You could have a desktop to game at home and a notebook to take with you.

Well I have the inspiron and a toshiba notebook, so i will always have something to take with me, i also have 2 pc's but i think that they are to prehestoric to play anything on.

Ok, well then it comes down to desktops being the best bang for your buck when it comes to gaming. Ideally you can get a lot of performance for 50-75% of the price of a notebook. Since you have laptops taken care of, I would be inclined to suggest building a desktop. Unless you plan on taking your gaming on the road then something like the Gateway gaming notebook would be your best bet.
-
Well i will definately go for the desktop, any certain brands or models for under 1200, do not need keyboard, mouse or monitor.

I found the notebook I was talking about: Gateway P-7811FX - $1280.
For the desktop, building would be optimal. Though Dell has some decent offerings: XPS 630 or the Studio XPS which has Core I7 and ATI 4850 GPU.
