    Hi NBRers

I am a student & looking for a dell laptop

1.My requirements are pretty basic....some coding, internet browsing, watching videos, movies etc

    2. Today (i.e. cyber Monday, 1st Dec) Dell has a deal (today only) on Inspiron-1525(intel pentium dual core T3200,3gb ram, 250gb HDD, inbuilt webcam) going for usd 519 at dell.com/everyday
    configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndopz1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=features~laptops_great_deals
I am pretty happy with the specs, but i was wondering if Dell laptops (& Inspiron 1525 in particular) will get cheaper in the days leading upto Christmas & New Years.

    3. I am kind of decided on Dell, as it has good build quality, good support, etc, etc. & friends have had bad experience with Toshiba, HP
But i am willing to go for another brand if there is some really amazing deal out there...like a friend got a compaq laptop for 280$ , using a labor day deal posted on slickdeals

All you senior NBR folks, can you give me some advice on is it sensible to wait some more, or it wont get cheaper than the price today(cyber monday, 1-december)
In your experience, does Dell, in particular cut prices, after Cyber Monday?

Its a little urgent as the cyber monday deal ends in a few hours

I am a student on a tight budget, so even a difference of 40$ is impt. to me
Also, i dont need the laptop right now, so i can easily wait till new years

    Thanks a ton folks

    cheers
    augustya

519 is a good price for that laptop. The pentium dual core isn't the most powerful processor though.

if thats all you're looking to do, i'd hit up a 1520 or a vostro 1500 from the outlet

I would suggest you wait. Even at that price it is still far to expensive for those specs. Dell is using technology that is up to a year and a half old in their notebooks. They have yet to update their notebooks when every other manufacturer has done so over 4 months ago. An update should at least happen by new years and bigger discounts should be on the way. If you really are not into high end specs I suggest you look on ebay. You could find a new laptop with comparable or higher specs for around $500. You can even get an additional 30% if you use microsoft live cashback. Ebay also has a 10% promotion that you can stack as well.

Also, for what it's worth, dell is average quality when it comes to laptops, a step above hp and acer. I suggest looking into asus and lenovo if quality is of a big concern to you.

This is a good price. If it's in your budget, I would upgrade the processor. The 1525 is built very well.
