A couple of days ago my computer started doing some weird things. First off, I have to press the power button two or three things before it will turn on and the keyboard is starting to miss some key presses. Also, the fans are running at full speed as soon as I turn on the computer and they don't slow down even if the laptop is just sitting idle.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this?

The first Studio 1535 I got in Auguest 2008 had those issues. Since I was under warranty back then, Dell tried to fix it and eventually replaced it. I read here on NBR that those issues were caused by motherboard flex on early builds of the 1535. Is your 1535 one of the first ones produced when it was offered around June/July 2008?

The fan issues could be caused by overheating. Download HWMonitor and keep an eye on temperatures for a while. It could also be motherboard flex.
