I am waiting on my new Precision 4300 notebook as it was shipped today. I will need to keep my desktop for probably another year and would like to possibly look at upgrading it. It is a pentium 4, 3.6 ghz, 1 meg ram with 250 hard drive. I have it in my office and it is hooked up to the cable. The picture frequently freezes up even though the sound continues fine. Does this happen because I need more ram or what is causing this to happen? What can I do to make this computer a little faster for the remainder of time I am using it? Will it cost me more than it is worth doing? Thanks for any input.

I'm going to assume your video freezes when watching movies/clips.

If you are running on XP (which I assume, again), your specs memory is fine (assuming you meant 1 gig, instead of meg), so try to update your video card drivers.

Thanks for responding. I did mean 1 gig and I am using XP. Is updating the video drivers simple/hard? I am not computer savy.

    No it's fairly simple.

You just have to find out what video card you have.

Right click on your pc icon on your desktop, goto devices manager, and look for video card.

Depending on manufacturer, you goto their site, and download the driver.

All you have to do would be uninstalling the current driver, and installing the new one that you downloaded.
