Hello, when I plug the ethernet into the back of my Dell E1505 it seems to not recognize it until I actulaly shut the computer off and then turn it back on. Then if i unplug it, it recognizes that I unplugged it but then if I were to go and put it back in later while the computer is on, the computer doesnt recognize it. Can someone please help me.

Do a Windows Update and see if it finds any updated drivers for the Ethernet controller. If not, then reinstall the regular drivers. They can be downloaded from Dell's support website.

check Quikset's power options as well. There is a setting for turning off the wired LAN card on battery.
