I ordered my XPS M1530 a week ago and luckily got it today. I'm trying to use my cable connection so I connected the network cable to the network connector on the laptop's left side. Well there's no network and the diagnose says that the cable is unplugged and to plug it in.

I've reset my cable moderm already so... help me please

You should post this in the networking and wireless section. Maybe a mod will be nice enough to do it for you.

Is your card enabled in the Device manager?

Try going on to the Dell Support site and downloading the Broadcom drivers. When I reformatted my notebook, I forgot to install those drivers, so the wired network connection didn't work. It's worth a try.

Installing the driver does not seem to work. I came across the "connect to Internet" in Control Panel. It asks for the username and ISP. Any idea how I can acquire this information?

    Worth a shot :

Untick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option. Right-click connection > Properies > General tab > Configure > Power Management tab

Restart the machine while the cable is plugged.

    Good luck.
