I have recently ordered an Inspiron 1520, specs below, and am curious how accurate the ESD for my order is. The order went "in production" Aug20, and the ESD is Sept3. I was lucky that none of the parts had delays associated with them at the time of ordering.

On another note, for shipping, I live in Saskatchewan Canada and just wanna know about how long my order will take to get here once it has been shipped. The delivery method is just regular ground.

    Thnx

Hey, someone else from the 306! RIDER PRIDE BABY!!!

...anyways, I just got off chat and my lappy is being delayed because of the lid (midnight blue) and the screen ( 1440x900 high def). So you may be also getting a delay for you screen. Dell uses Purolator in Sk so I here, alas I don't know how long it takes for them to deliver.

So I called Dell Cust. Service to check on the status of my 1520. So far so good - they said it was 'in production' and actually bumped the ESD back to Aug30. No mention that my order would be delayed due to back ordered parts :) but they did say that the ESD may change due to the high volume of orders being processed at this time. Shipping to SK usually takes 7 days (don't know if that includes the weekend, probably not). Here's hoping that these estimates are accurate.

Update - I kinda knew it was too good to be true. This morning I woke up to an email from Dell which said my order may not ship now until around Sept 5 because my video card is backordered. :( So it's looking like mid-September before I get it.

Shipping to Canada is 3 to 4 days I've been told... I live in Quebec and was told that it's 1 to 2 days more so probably the same thing for you.

AHH! Back in the beginning of august they told me that my video card was out of stock and thats what I was waiting on (same one as you) and then I was waiting on the colored lid.. and now apparently, I'm waiting on the base.. and I asked if I was still waiting on anything else and they said only the base. So this means now I'm probably waiting on the video card too!

I ordered July 8th, by the way :) with no compensation...

Update Aug27: Another delay, apparently this time it’s the display and the video card that’s holding things up. My new EDD is Sept18/07 – on a machine that had no delays or backorders when I placed the original order. Kinda sucks L

Are the Vostros as backordered as the Inspirons?? I’m halfway to canceling this order and picking up a Vostro if it means I can get it before mid September. Or say screw it all together and pickup a MBPro. :D

I'd suggest not going for the Vostro, I've got to wait nearly a month just for a no-frills, no-extras setup.. :(

Just got off the phone from Dell, ended up canceling my Inspiron 1520 :(. More delays which would keep the unit from shipping until "sept 21 at he earliest".

Now I need to figure out what to order instead. I am looking at the Asus F3SV-B1, any thoughts on this model or any suggestions?? I am currently using an HP DV6565CA, but need something with more processing power for work.

    Thanks
