    Hello,

I just received my new inspiron 1520. I have the 1680x1050 res. screen. Overall I am pretty happy with the computer. I've read that many have received grainy screens, apparently mine came with the LG screen (lt's the lplf300). The screen is absolutely awesome, really sharp, great color,etc... only thing I noticed is that on a completely black background there is a bit of what I guess is light leakage (tiny corner in the top right, and a couple of small spots on the left edge of the screen, again small).

My question is... is that normal? to have some light leakage on a laptop LCD screen? Should I talk to dell about returning the laptop to try and get a completely flawless screen?

I'm pretty OCD when it comes to stuff like this, specially after reading the forums here. I don't know if I should just keep it as it is or try to get it exchanged....

    what do you all think?

Light leakage is normal. No LCD is perfect, unless you're talking about professional grade LCD panels (Eizo is a good example ).

LED panels I assume have less light leakage then florescent light bulb displays but regardless, you're gonna have small leakage.

I've used every LCD type and brand under the sun and still haven't seen a perfect one.. :/

Yup, light leakage is normal, as long as it isn't excessive. I've seen abnormal leakage on some laptops too, but not very ofter at all. Glad you got a good screen! :)

I see. well I'm just kinda ocd about small things like that. I just feel like I got pretty lucky to have the LG screen, it really is a great display. Not too often will I have a completely black screen anyway. The price I paid for my system was awesome too.

I did a google search on lcd light leakage and I did see some pretty horrible cases.
